Robert W. Medearis, Director
Mr. Medearis is a Management Consultant and Professional Director. His exemplary talents and highly regarded reputation as a dynamic businessman have been demonstrated for over thirty years while serving in the capacity of director for nineteen companies and organizations including: Silicon Valley Bank (Founder), Bank Plus, Commerce Security Bank, Western Real Estate Trust, Risk Management Software (Founder), InnerAsia/Geographic Travel, William Sherman Company, Chalice Investments, Inc., Techarmonic, Inc. and the Gorbachev Foundation. Among his many noteworthy accomplishments, Mr. Medearis founded the $4 billion Silicon Valley Bank where he served as Chairman during its formative years from 1983 to 1989, and is now Director Emeritus. He is a retired Consulting Professor for Stanford University's School of Engineering and at the University of California Davis School of Management. Mr. Medearis is a widely acknowledged expert in the areas of Real Estate, Real Estate Financing, Banking and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Medearis' interests have been most recently focused and have produced significant impact upon the Republic of Georgia where he developed the strategic plan for the Banking Industry for the Republic. Mr. Medearis' experience, outstanding history of achievement and wide business network provide BluePoint with a significant basis. Mr. Medearis holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard School of Business.
Gordon V. Smith, Director
Mr. Smith is currently Chairman of the regional real estate development firm of Miller and Smith Companies. Since helping found that company in 1964, he has successfully guided Miller and Smith through tumultuous market changes and halting recessions by applying an analytical market approach and conservative accounting procedures to the development industry. In 1996, Mr. Smith became a director of Bank Plus, a $4 billion NASDAQ listed regulated thrift institution with headquarters in Glendale, California, and served as its Chairman from 1997 until its sale in 2002. He is also a director of Crown NorthCorp, a financial service company with operations in Europe and the United States. In addition Mr. Smith serves as a director of the Opportunity Microfinance Bank, devoted to making loans and taking deposits from the poor in the Philippines. Honored as Employer of the Year Award by the Washington, D.C. Downtown J.C.’s and Entrepreneur of the Year by Inc. Magazine and Ernst & Young, Mr. Smith is a recognized leader in the fields of Real Estate, Real Estate Financing, and Banking. He is a current member of the Ohio Wesleyan University Endowments Committee and past co-chairman of the Major Gifts campaign for the University’s $50 million fund drive and has also served as both adjunct professor of Residential Construction and Development at American University and delegate to China under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Smith’s vast professional success, particularly in real estate development domestically and oversight in overseas markets, shall be tremendously beneficial to BluePoint’s growth strategy nationally and abroad. Mr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree Phi Beta Kappa from Ohio Wesleyan University and MBA from Harvard School of Business.
Guy A. Archbold, Chairman
Mr. Archbold joined BluePoint as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer in February 2001, bringing over 25 years of senior management experience in administration, institutional money management, marketing and sales management and budgetary planning for both emerging and established specialized business units within the financial services industry. Mr. Archbold began his career with the investment banking firm of Blyth Eastman Dillon & Co., which was subsequently acquired by Paine Webber. At Paine Webber, Mr. Archbold earned the distinction of becoming the youngest Senior Vice President and Divisional Director in the firm while managing its Boardroom Office in New York. Mr. Archbold has also served as a Senior Vice President in charge of west coast institutional sales and banking for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and in similar positions as Managing Director for west coast operations of other regional investment banks. Previous to joining BluePoint, Mr. Archbold collaborated with the former Dean of the Kellogg School of Management to develop programs in institutional quantitative analysis investment programs for endowment funds, state and local governmental retirement funds, municipalities, individuals, and brokerage firms. Mr. Archbold has a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University and has completed advanced management courses at the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
